Leave Lisbon for the sun-drenched plains of the Alentejo. Uncover the soul of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Continue with a choice of Monsaraz's whitewashed hilltop streets or an exclusive wine tasting at a world-class estate.
About this tour
An hour and a half east of Lisbon, the landscape changes completely: golden plains, cork oaks, olive groves and vineyards, broken only by whitewashed villages on the hilltops. This is the Alentejo, and at its heart is Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city with two thousand years of history in its streets.
You walk from the Roman temple to the fortress-like cathedral and the extraordinary Chapel of Bones, then choose your afternoon: the tiny walled village of Monsaraz above the Alqueva lake, or a visit and tasting at one of the Alentejo's leading wine estates. With a driver, the wine is yours to enjoy.
